Hypertension
The Hypertension Class series is a component of the Diabetes Program. These classes are at NO COST and is available to individuals who have pre-hypertension and hypertension. It is a 4-week course that meet once a week for 2 hours. Topics discussed include the following:
- What is Hypertension?
- Nutrition
- Physical Activity
- Lifestyle Modification
- Medications
- Heart Attack
- Stroke

The Program’s Goals are to:
- prevent medical problems related to hypertension.
- improve your understanding of hypertension.
- improve your ability to control your hypertension.

- Adults (18 years and older)
What is Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)?
Hypertension is when the blood flows through the vessels at a greater than normal force. It is often called the "silent killer" because it does not make you look or feel sick, but it is damaging your organs and hurting your health.
Eligibility
Medical providers can refer their clients to attend the class series. Please complete the following referral form and fax it to the Diabetes Program at (510) 383-5183.
