Know Your Rights (KYR) advice and guidance is important for all immigrants, as well as their families, friends and providers that support and serve them. These resources specifically address Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions.

KYR Basics

  • Do This the First 24 Hours When Someone is Detained
    Step-by-step guidance: Information you need to get from ICE; documents you’ll need to prove the detainee has community ties and doesn’t pose a danger; hotline numbers and advocacy information you should have in advance.
  • We Have Rights
    The SF Bay Area Council on American-Islamic Relations has partnered with Brooklyn Defender Services, American Civil Liberties Union, and other organizations to produce this four-video We Have Rights campaign that gives practical advice to immigrants on what to do “when ICE is outside our doors, is inside our homes, stops us in the street, and arrests us.” The video is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Urdu, Arabic, Russian, and Haitian Creole.
  • SB 54 Know Your Rights Palm Cards
    The Ice Out of California coalition has produced handy ‘palm cards’ that explain immigrant rights under California’s sanctuary state law (SB 54). The palm cards spell out what law enforcement cannot do. English | Spanish | Chinese| Vietnamese

Driver’s Rights
