Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program

Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program

The Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Program (AOD) is a children and youth focused program that aims to keep them in school and reduce and prevent high risk behaviors by using primary prevention strategies. The program works to reduce high-risk activities for high-need school aged children and youth through promoting educational attainment with our Learn, Earn, Have Fun Campaign by providing information on fulfilling educational school requirements from grade to grade, and successfully graduating from high school through our Care Coaching Model.

This project addresses ACPHD's Community Health Improvement Plan's strategy #3:

Economic Security.

Today, only
73.5%

of Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) students will graduate from high school.

Only
58%

of OUSD graduates enroll in post-secondary education.

Program Objectives

The objectives of the program are to: partner with community organizations and schools to accompany educational providers and families to ensure that every child and youth receives optimal educational opportunities to fulfill their natural curiosities and interests so that they become filled with skills ready to take on and contribute to the developments of the 21st century and beyond.
