Older Adult Programming
In partnership with Alameda County Social Services Area on Aging, older adults participate in Bingocize, an evidence-based health promotion program combining physical activity and nutrition with the game of bingo! This happens over a 10-week period in a fun and interactive way. It is offered remotely on-line or in person. Classes are offered in Spanish, English, and Chinese.
Garden Builds
Older adults at affordable senior housing sites get increased access to fresh produce as a result of garden builds and garden education where they live.
Healthy Living Festival
Sponsored by United Seniors of Oakland and Alameda County, the Nutrition Services team annually staffs the lunch line with resident volunteers at this fun festival at the Oakland Zoo! The Healthy Living Festival is a free event for older adults, 55 and above, living in Alameda County. The festival promotes health and wellness for Aging Adults, and includes free food, vendors, music, fun and more.
